The choice for governor
Breaking down the race for governor: Bernero vs. Snyder
Published: October 13, 2010
That's not being too cruel. Once, earlier this year, when Snyder had not yet been hidden away by handlers, he appeared on an interview program, where the self-described One Tough Nerd was asked who the Chief Justice of Michigan was. He gamely said he couldn't pronounce their name. The chief justice is, of course, Marilyn Kelly.
Proposal Two: Voters are going to be asked to decide two statewide ballot questions in November. The first is whether to call a constitutional convention. Proposal 2, however, has received almost no attention from the media, and is almost certain to pass.
Officially, it is called "a proposal to amend the state constitution to prohibit certain felons from holding elective office and specified types of public employment positions." What it really should be called is the Kwame Kilpatrick amendment. It is meant to keep him, and others like him, out of elected or appointed office.
Nobody sane wants KK in any office, other than maybe the warden's. But he isn't seeing the light of day anytime soon. This proposal would in fact take power from the people and local officials, require more laws, bureaucracy, and cause endless lawsuits.
Study it, and be brave enough to vote no.
