A shocking video showing a man exiting his vehicle on the Lodge, taking aim, and firing a shot at another vehicle is grabbing headlines this morning.

Warning: this video contains images OF A GUY AIMING A GUN AT ANOTHER CAR ON THE LODGE AND FIRING, and the person filming uses language that gets bleeped out on the radio.

1st Lt. Mike Shaw with the Michigan State Police told The Detroit News that a man driving a black vehicle, who police believe was stopping to offer help, pulled over to check on the suspect. The suspect then fired a shot at the vehicle, which fled.

State Police took to Twitter in search of witnesses and the good Samaritan.

“We’d really like to talk to the guy and see what the suspect said to him,” Shaw said.

The man in custody appears to have psychological issues, Shaw said. Police found numerous long guns in the vehicle, as evidenced by these photos

“We’re speaking with the individual now,” he said. “There are mental issues he might be suffering through that makes it a bit harder to determine what happened.”

According to reports, troopers arrived on the scene and found the suspect driving a white Chrysler 300 involved in a traffic crash on the southbound Lodge. Police believe the suspect assaulted the 66-year-old woman after they were involved in a crash on the freeway.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident, the MSP spokesman said.

Another witness captured the aftermath from a nearby overpass.

The incident closed the freeway until late last night.
