Shop at Metro Times' and The Detroit Mercantile Company's Merry Market tomorrow and Sunday

Christmas is quickly approaching. It'll be here before you know it. And if you're anything like this writer, you haven't a bought a single present yet. 

By now the malls are clogged with depraved last minute shoppers and you'll likely be joining them soon because you have some bratty niece or nephew who has to have some horrible Elmo toy or the world will end on Christmas day. But before you succumb to the pressure of the corporate hell that is a shopping mall two weeks before Christmas, there's a pop-up market that just might have something for everyone on your list (except that little gremlin of a nephew). 

Metro Times' Merry Market takes place at the Detroit Mercantile Company this weekend. Much like the other 1,000 pop-up markets that happen in Detroit this time of year, there will be a slew of local vendors hocking a slew of locally made goods. While we can't seem to find a definitive list, we know for sure Sloane Street Style, Sharklion, The Barn Antiques, Tree Trunk Arts, City Girls Soaps, Chez Chloe, Laura's Sweaters, Kaleamazoo Chips, The End Grain Woodworking Co., Dave's Sweet Tooth Coffee, Pete's Chocolate Co., McClary Bros., Two Stix 5 Stones, Woodward Throwbacks, Slow Jams, Mutual Adoration, Green Toe Gardens, Oh So Antsy, Detroit Bicycle Company, Detroit Scroll, Rebel Nell, Alchemy Detroit, and Stormy Kromer will be there, among others. 

Because we here at Metro Times firmly believe that better shopping happens when alcohol is involved, there will also be a bar serving cocktails made with Mary Ann's Soda. Food trucks from Stockyard and Cafe Cortina will also be around, serving up sandwiches and pasta respectively. 

Just for fun, dogs are also welcome to come shop at Merry Market.

Detroit Mercantile Company is located at 3434 Russell St., Detroit. The market takes place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. For more info click here.
