Local crafters Carey Gustafson of Glass Action and Melissa Kolb of Mended have teamed up to open a new retail location in downtown Ferndale.

You may remember when we chatted with Gustafson, who until recently worked out of a makeshift shop in her basement, about her growing stained glass business. Gustafson makes night lights, ornaments, jewelry, wall decor, and even portraits out of stained glass.

Kolb, her partner in this new venture and the head of Mended, makes one-of-a-kind dresses and bags from up-cycled vintage materials.

The pair's new retail space won't be a traditional store with traditional hours. Instead, they'll be hosting showcases and open houses along with special pop-up hours.

The store comes amid announcements of other new retail spots including Ink Addict in Ferndale, NVL in Detroit, and Carhart in Midtown

The very first open house will be held on May 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. and May 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The store is located at 624 Livernois, Ferndale Suite 200.
